NTAG 424 DNA

An NXP NFC chip that signs every tap with a unique cryptographic message, making each scan verifiable and counterfeit-resistant.

NTAG 424 DNA is an NFC chip made by NXP. It is the chip behind almost every serious connected product programme, because it adds something a plain NFC tag cannot: cryptographic proof that a tap is real, recent, and tied to a specific physical item.

The SUN message

On every tap, the chip generates a Secure Unique NFC message — a URL with a one-time cryptographic signature appended. The Fan Connect platform validates that signature against the chip's secret key. If a counterfeiter copies the URL and prints it on a fake product, the signature fails and the tap is rejected.

What this unlocks

  • Authenticity verification at the point of fan interaction, not in a lab.
  • Tap-count and last-seen analytics, since every tap is a new signed event.
  • Selective access — limited drops, member-only experiences, post-purchase unlocks.
  • Fraud-resistant promotions, because every reward is tied to a verified physical tap.
